  • Keep short, diagonal aisles if configuration allows; in order to increase visibility into the store.

  • Contain depth in backup merchandise for the feature presentations.

  • Have highly visible basics near an entry pattern of store.

  • Contain fixture presentations for the second, third and fourth themes in each category area.

  • Change some merchandise twice per season.

  • Ensure a new look every six months – clear stock and replace.

  • Use columns for display (if they exist).

  • Don’t permit for unused fixtures (where stock-outs). Remove and store. Don’t allow gaps.

  • Don’t allow height of displays in centre to obscure walls.

  • Do not create or erect barriers which impede traffic flow into shop.
